Kari Lake Wins Partial Ballot Inspection Victory In Maricopa County

Published on

Thursday’s court granted Kari Lake, Republican Arizona gubernatorial nominee, a request to inspect some Maricopa County ballots as she challenges the results of her election loss against Katie Hobbs, Democratic Arizona Secretary.
According to USA Today, Lake filed a lawsuit Dec. 9, seeking to be declared election winner or to have Maricopa County re-run its gubernatorial elections. The Maricopa County Superior Court of Arizona granted her permission to inspect 50 randomly-selected Election-Day-cast or Election Day spoil-marked “ballot-on-demand” printed ballots. These ballots were from six different Maricopa County voting centres and 50 early-cast ballots from six different counties.

Lake’s request for 50 randomly chosen early ballot envelopes to be inspected by the court was denied. The court forbids approved inspections from affecting any ballots’ integrity or storage or maintenance in county custody. It also prohibits them interfering with any ongoing recount of 2022 election results.

The court directed that the inspection begin Tuesday morning.

Lake claimed that “nearly 50% of all polling sites had problems with tabulating machine and printers” on Election Day. This forced voters to wait for hours, officials from Maricopa County said.

Lake’s representative didn’t immediately respond to Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
