House Democrat Campaign Chief Blasts AOC After New York Losses

Published on

Sean Patrick Maloney, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair, had harsh words for Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, D.N.Y. for her apparent inability to participate in what he called a historic defense of their New York majority.

Mahoney spoke with several media outlets to discuss the aftermath of his defeat in the race for New York’s 17th Congressional district. In addition to Maloney’s failure to secure an earlier Democratic stronghold, Republicans also won at least six seats in the midterm elections. There were many races that are still too close to call. Governor. Although Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) won, the close race was a disappointment for Democrats.

Maloney, while recalling the election’s results, noted that Ocasio Cortez did not play any role in protecting their majority state.

“The last time that I met A.O.C. we beat her endorsed candidate by two to one in primary. And I didn’t see any of these midterms supporting our House majority.” Maloney said that while I don’t know what advice she has, I am certain she will be generous with it.” Maloney spoke to The New York Times.

He said, “But let’s be clear, she had nearly nothing to do with the historic defense of our minority.” She didn’t pay one dollar in dues. I did not do anything except give money to frontline candidates when they didn’t want it.”

Ocasio Cortez was previously criticized in June for her endorsement of Maloney’s progressive primary challenger. Her disagreement with Maloney led to a resurgent conflict between liberal and moderate Democrats.

“There are many voices that should be heard. This is especially true when suburban voters have rejected the ideas she most associates with, such as defunding police and other related issues. She is an important voice in politics. Maloney stated that she wasn’t available to help pass our agenda through Congress or to stand our ground on the political battleground.

Maloney also appeared as a guest on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, where he said that Hochul’s low favorability ratings and low poll numbers played a role in the struggles of Democrat candidates.

“The governor is losing double digits in battleground House districts. Our candidates must outperform governor by more that ten points, sometimes more than 15. Maloney stated that this is a high expectation for a first-time candidate.

He later stated that he wasn’t blaming New York’s governor for the losses.

Maloney stated, “Blame Me because I should’ve won 3,000 more votes.” “I mean, I would have to surpass the top ticket by 10-12 points to achieve that. That’s a high order, and I was walking and chewing gum simultaneously.
