As the United States raises the alarm about a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine, President Joe Biden spoke again with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Biden called Putin at Camp David, where he was located. The call lasted approximately an hour. Since Russia escalated military tensions at the border of Ukraine, this is the third conversation between Putin and Biden.

“President Biden made it clear that if Russia invades Ukraine again, the United States along with our Allies, partners, and allies will respond decisively to the situation and impose swift, severe costs on Russia,” the White House stated in a statement following the call.

According to the White House, Biden was ready to engage in diplomacy with Russia, but was equally prepared for other scenarios.

Biden tried to warn Putin several times, but he was unsuccessful.

The president and his advisors keep warning that Putin could invade Ukraine anytime, even though they admit that they don’t have any intelligence that suggests that the Russian president has made a decision.

Russia read out the conversation and said it was “balanced” and “business-like”, but accused the United States for creating “an atmosphere of unprecedented hyperstyria.”

They claimed that Biden requested the call on Saturday, in spite of existing plans between them to speak on Monday.

Russia expressed regret at the refusal of NATO and the United States to expand NATO to include Ukraine.

They stated that Biden’s views would “carefully be considered” by Moscow’s government.
